00:00.000 --> 00:11.000
To get the most from this video you will need to see our other videos on how soil and
bent pipes work, how to connect to them, solvent welding and fitting shower wall panels

00:11.000 --> 00:16.000
At the start of the garage conversion we
drew a diagram of the bathroom on the floor

00:16.000 --> 00:25.000
Then we raise the floor levels introducing the solvent
weld pipes into the soil stack, which you can see here

00:25.000 --> 00:29.000
And made absolutely sure that we
had the right levels to get it

00:29.000 --> 00:41.320
levels to get everything down to that stack. We laid the shower tray
dry, allow 10 millimetres for bed and cut round through the wall

00:41.320 --> 00:50.520
panels, the shower panels with a multi-saw. We put the tray back,
checked everything was leveled, and introduced the waste pipe into

00:50.520 --> 00:58.820
the hole in the tray itself. We marked the edge of
the hole of the outlet of the tray onto the pipe

00:59.000 --> 01:16.000
And that's the trap that's going to go into that pipe. Taking the tray away again, we mark
the pipe in the exact place we're going to cut it so it fits into the spigot of the waste

01:16.000 --> 01:44.600
Just there. Introduce the nuts the plastic back
washer and the rubber washer onto the pipe

01:44.600 --> 01:52.600
That makes absolutely sure that the trap
or the shower waste stays watertight

02:01.600 --> 02:14.600
Check with your finger that the pipe has reached all the way
into the spigot and then tighten up as tight as you can by hand

02:14.600 --> 02:21.600
This will compress the rubber washer into
the spigot and keep the trap watertight

02:31.600 --> 02:45.940
Finally make sure the seating washer
for the tray is clean with no grit

02:45.940 --> 02:59.080
Lay the tray back in position. Once you're sure that you're
in the right position then manoeuvre the trap into the centre

02:59.080 --> 03:06.080
of the hole so that you can be absolutely sure at
this stage that they are going to line up perfectly

03:06.080 --> 03:22.141
There we go Check around to make sure there nothing underneath between the rubber and the underside of the tray All of
the plastic covering on the tray the protection covering will be pulled off at a later stage There no need to do that now

03:22.601 --> 03:27.121
And this is just to demonstrate how the trap
itself how the shower waste goes together

03:27.681 --> 03:33.721
So the bowl underneath is clamped
up to the underside of the tray

03:34.521 --> 03:41.801
by the threaded surround which fits
into the dish in the shower tray outlet

03:42.841 --> 03:50.641
So that's tightened up a lot tighter later. Then
the catching sump is put in and then the top cover

03:51.441 --> 03:55.081
I'll take those out for now because the tray's
got to come out again to have its bed laid

04:08.201 --> 04:15.201
floor that project beyond the edge of
the tray and then lay a 10mm mortar bed

04:15.201 --> 04:21.201
Laying a bed accurately takes a little bit of
practice. It's good if you get it right first time

04:21.201 --> 04:25.201
You don't have to keep picking
up the tray and relaying it

04:25.201 --> 04:33.201
So practice laying a bed before you get
into the bathroom. Drop the tray on the bed

04:33.201 --> 04:37.201
Twist it as you put it in
position to compress the mortar

04:37.201 --> 04:57.222
and then it should slide into position quite accurately. Level it up making sure the tray itself is
absolutely 100 level The slope for the water is actually in the tray in the dish of the tray itself

04:57.222 --> 05:02.702
So everything should be level as you
lay it. Give it a little tap if required

05:02.702 --> 05:08.702
This is where practice comes in with
setting the bed. Give it a final twist

05:08.702 --> 05:14.782
Check it again. And then put the waste
connection in loosely just to hold that in

05:14.782 --> 05:35.202
in position in case it gets knocked or kicked. Peel back the
protective plastic and give the edges where the tray meets the

05:35.202 --> 05:40.802
shower panel walls or other walls are
really good clean with some white spirit

05:40.802 --> 05:44.642
When you've done that leave that 15
minutes to evaporate and you can then

05:44.642 --> 05:51.002
then seal the tray to in this case the
wall panels perhaps at home to the wall

05:51.002 --> 05:57.662
before you tile. When sealed you're
ready to fit your shower surround. When

05:57.662 --> 06:01.442
the shower surround is fitted the
plastic can come up and the waist can be

06:01.442 --> 06:06.362
fitted really tightly and properly as
can the trim between the underside of the

06:06.362 --> 06:13.082
tray and the floor. If you've enjoyed
