WEBVTT

00:05.359 --> 00:07.440
Welcome to Disney This Day. I'm Evan

00:07.440 --> 00:10.639
Bonkers. And on the day in 2005, Michael

00:10.639 --> 00:13.519
Eisner resigned as CEO of the Walt

00:13.519 --> 00:16.320
Disney Company. Disney flourished during

00:16.320 --> 00:19.439
Eisner's 21-year tenure, adding multiple

00:19.439 --> 00:21.680
theme parks, a cruise line, new

00:21.680 --> 00:24.800
television networks like ABC and ESPN,

00:24.800 --> 00:27.920
sports teams, and even the Muppets. He

00:27.920 --> 00:30.480
helped usher in the Disney renaissance

00:30.480 --> 00:32.800
and solidified Disney as an

00:32.800 --> 00:36.239
entertainment giant. Sadly, missteps and

00:36.239 --> 00:39.120
misfortunes in the early 2000s led to a

00:39.120 --> 00:41.040
lack of confidence from the board,

00:41.040 --> 00:44.000
prompting Eisner's departure, and that

00:44.000 --> 00:46.480
was 20 years ago. Do you remember this?

00:46.480 --> 00:51.020
I do. Anyway, have a magical day.
