WEBVTT

00:05.279 --> 00:07.359
Welcome to Disney this day. I'm Egon

00:07.359 --> 00:10.800
Bonkers and on the day in 1966, Walt

00:10.800 --> 00:13.280
Disney served as the grand marshall of

00:13.280 --> 00:15.200
the Tournament of Roses parade for the

00:15.200 --> 00:18.320
first and only time. Walt rode together

00:18.320 --> 00:20.480
with Mickey Mouse. The pair was joined

00:20.480 --> 00:22.560
by about two dozen Disney characters

00:22.560 --> 00:25.439
walking alongside their car. Fittingly,

00:25.439 --> 00:28.400
the theme of the parade was It's a small

00:28.400 --> 00:30.720
world. In line with the upcoming

00:30.720 --> 00:33.440
attraction and Walt's philosophy of

00:33.440 --> 00:35.840
peace through cultural understanding, it

00:35.840 --> 00:37.360
was one of Walt's last public

00:37.360 --> 00:39.520
appearances before his passing later

00:39.520 --> 00:42.160
that year. And this was 16 years ago

00:42.160 --> 00:44.879
today. It wasn't rain then. Looks like

00:44.879 --> 00:47.520
it's supposed to today. Anyway, have a

00:47.520 --> 00:50.920
magical day.
